Hi Guys, firstly, I hope you all had an amazing chilled Christmas full of selfcare and indulging in yummy foods and drinks. A New Year 2021 is upon us and finally saying goodbye to 2020 I thought I’d share my views on the year ahead.
So I started writing this post at the end of December, and the UK has changed once again. Since I started writing so I’ve had to change the content a little. But I wanted to share a few thoughts of mine for the upcoming year, 2021. The country is quickly approaching a third national lockdown. I am sure we all knew was coming after all the last minute changes to Christmas and social mixing. However, it doesn’t make it any easier for anyone! In fact I guess it’s misleading, we are all left in the dark, unsure what the future holds, will 2021 actually be any better than 2020? Time will tell I guess, so let’s plod along and get this 3rd lockdown nailed! The sooner we go into it , the quicker (hopefully) we can come out of it.
The positive outcome from December and the first week in 2021, is the vaccines. We now have two vaccines (Pfizer and Oxford) which will help combat the spread of the Corona Virus. So fingers crossed when the lockdown ends we will be in a much more promising position in terms of infection rate, positive tests and ultimately lowering the staggering death toll.
Towards the end of last year I started to write a list of things I’d love to do this year. From little some ideas to bigger more motivated projects and tasks. I feel a little deflated that potentially some of those ideas will be on hold for a little while, but I am happy to wait.
- Start a small business – towards to middle to end of 2020 I came up with a little idea of creating a start up crafts business, mainly just a way to combat being stuck indoors! However I am now determined to get that little business thriving this year. I’ve now set up Instagram and currently creating the Etsy page then Forest Crafts Co will be officially open!
- I’ve never been much of a reader, so this year I have decided I’d love to do more reading. Receiving a collection of Jane Austin novels for christmas I can’t wait to get reading them, I am in love with the pretty book and hopefully that’ll give me a kick up the butt to get reading them!
- I can’t wait to continue my fitness journey, like with some of you lockdown 1.0 took it’s toll on me a little. Just the isolation of not seeing friends and family was really hard. I love going for walks, drinks, food and having a laugh. So being stuck inside played a significant role in the downturn of my mental health. My saving grace is that I can work from home. So I still had daily contact with work colleagues through Zoom meetings, emails etc. Never envisaging still being sat at my home desk in January 2021. I love swimming running and walking. So I started a strava account and basically took myself out for walks and runs whenever possible. I am hoping to keep this up (but the cold weather is not my friend – haha)
- Be happy! This is probably a weird one for some of you, but I just want to spend the year happy. Last year I had a few set backs. However this year I am determined to put myself first and look after myself more. I’ve started meal planning again… something I slacked with towards the end of last year. And also taking an evening a week (Sundays) for a little self care pamper session. It’s the perfect way to start a new week.
As we embark on a New Year 2021 lets be positive. The above is just a outline insight into what I’d love to do this year. Being realistic I’d love to venture abroad – when safe to do so. And of course see all the friends and family I haven’t been able to see for so long! I can’t wait to give my Grandma the biggest hug ever!! However, I am a realist and I knew that won’t happen for at least 3 months.. at least. But it’s always at the back of my mind. Just seeing everyones faces… I can’t wait.
Finally, I know some of you may be suffering with the third lockdown dooming in on us. But you are not alone, if you need a friendly chat, a moan, a rant about your partner. Please drop me a message. It’s always good to talk – which I know is hard if you are feeling that low. But a problem shared is a problem halved. Here’s to a New Year 2021!
Sending so much love and positivity to you all!
