Bored of your run down bathroom, wanting to make more use of the small bathroom you already have? Or maybe you want to start a renovation project and need to extend your current bathroom. There are so many bathrooms store around these days, which if you are like me you could spend a whole day visiting them all. Also if you aren’t looking to completely renovate the bathroom why not see if you can Spruce up the tiles or add a lick of paint. Just little things make such a different and perfect if you are on a budget.

Flooring

Flooring can literally change a room, if you’ve got old worn carpets which need a spruce you’ll be surprised how different it will make your room look and feel. As the old saying goes ‘ Out with the old in with the new’ – really does help transform a house into a home. Wood flooring can help improve simple spaces like a hallway or utility room where muddy boots can be kept on and the floors mopped. Or why not transfer a old bedroom carpet for wooden floors to create a sleek and classy feel. Wooden flooring always has a lovely feel to it, allow it to be cleaned easily – great if you are a family or have pets! Little new DIY touches like adding wood could make a significant difference to your home.

Upcycling

Upcycling has become an increasingly more talked about subject in DIY. The demand for Upcycling and Upcycle furniture is very common in todays society. Therefore by upcycling your own existing furniture could save you a fortune… and you can choose exactly how you want it to look. It could involve you repainting some bedroom furniture, such as an old dresser which you really want in grey. Or changing the horrible handles on a side table, or perhaps adding some sparkle to a dull mirror you have sitting around gathering dust. Therefore upcycling can not only give a project to undertake but also a sense of achievement when it’s finally complete. If you head to your local DIY store – B&Q etc you’ll see the vast array of furniture paints on offer and I am sure your upcycling project will be a huge success!

I love how easily you can transform a space by upcycling things that you already own! When I moved out on my own, my mother gave me an old wooden bedframe. It was originally a waterbed frame, but the water bed had been replaced with a mattress. Despite having been around for so long, it was in great shape (they made furniture to last back then with real wood) but it definitely was looking dated. Last year, I took the full thing apart painting it all jet black and giving it a much more modern look. I LOVE how it came out!
