National Picnic Week

Hey Guys, hope you are all well. This week was National Picnic week so of course I had to share a post with you all. The weather was typically lovely during the week when I was working then went a bit down hill for the weekend! In this post I’ll show you a couple of fab picnic accessorizes.

A Picnic has become something we all take for grant. A way to spend time with family, friends or work colleagues (when not in a lockdown)…. So what is a picnic? According to the Oxford English Dictionary it is descried as the following:

I don’t know about you but I love a picnic just being able to sit in the outdoors, enjoying yummy foods and taking in the landscapes. My go to place is the New Forest (it’s beautiful). I’ve teamed up with some fab companies to showcase their picnic essentials!

Waterdrop

I am sure a few of you have probably heard of Waterdrop by now, they are an amazing company trying to get the nation to drink more water… but with a difference. The Waterdrops is the real taste of natural fruits and plants to enhance your water. The benefits of Waterdrops to your traditional squash includes:

  • Zero Sugar
  • Valuable Vitamins
  • Exceptional Taste
  • Fruit and Plant Extracts

We live in a society today where people are more and more health conscious, so this is a great way to share new ways to drink tasty drinks but maintaining your sugar intake. Waterdrop not only have a number of refreshing flavours of drops, but also have an amazing range of water bottles, perfect for you picnic necessity!

Like most companies Waterdrop have their own unique Mission Statement “Our mission is to help our customers to drink more water and less junk and therefore live healthier, longer and more sustainable lives. We’re proud of the fact that our carefully developed product is also kind to Mother Earth by massively reducing transport emissions and the usage of plastic bottles.”

Loolyn Sustainable Marketplace

I’d never heard of Loolyn Sustainable Market Place before preparing this blog, but I am so glad I know of them now! The Loolyn Market Place was founded by two ladies, Lynsey and Mary-Louise with their mission to provide a market place which sources eco friendly, sustainable products which contain zero plastics. Their ambition of having one website that customers could visit to find all their sustainable needs rather than trawl numerous websites. The best part of Loolyn is that you could be looking for cutlery but stumble into the bathroom section! Within Loolyn as mentioned there are a number of fab items which will suit all eco friendly or non eco friendly audiences. So why not show you a couple of eco friendly and sustainable picnic wear items.

My Reusables

The fab My Reusables started by Caroline with the idea that she wanted to offer something that not only reduces the amount of single use plastic getting into our oceans and landfills, but also looks good and is small but fully functional. I am sure like most of us, we feeling the guilt when we grab a plastic starbucks cup and throw it away once we’ve finished it… probably only using that cup for 10 minutes maybe? Well My Reusables provide an alternative to throwing away single use cutlery and straws.  Caroline has created a number of cute designs – for adults and children. My favourite is the foxes!

These would make the cutest gifts for a child, or maybe a loved one who always forgets their cutlery for work lunches! I have already used mine, and taken them on a picnic. They were perfect for my pasta and I can reuse them. So in my eyes these are a winner 🙂

Beeswax Wraps

Like me, you are probably sat at home with a draw full of tin foil, greaseproof paper and cellophane. Well, need no more guys! Tansy Crafts provide a full range of pretty beeswax wraps which are not only such cute but perfect for sandwiches and wrapping you picnic food inside. they also have a range of pouches to which can hold an apple, a few chocolate bars or even that homemade slice of cake!

Tansy crafts have a number of wraps to choose from patterned, animals or even these cute fruits ones. I definitely will be purchase more of these, they are super handy and eco friendly.

Oggs

Some of your may have seen I featured Love Oggs before! So of course I knew they’d make the perfect picnic treat. Oggs are plant based alternatives to everyday foods, that taste as delicious as your normal sweet treats. Whilst doing their best to positively change the future of the plant, animals and people with every little bite. Their fairy cakes with sprinkles, are a nice treat and perfect for kids and also less than 100kcal ideal for even the healthy conscious.

Independent Wine

Wine is always needed for a picnic, a small glass never hurt anyone before! The Independent Wine have you sorted and the Arneis has a white wine twist…

Arneis is almost unknown in the UK, yet it a hidden gem from the foothills of the Alps in Roero, in Italy’s noble winemaking region of Piedmont. This district is known for its rich reds like Barolo and Barbaresco, but today we will be looking at Arneis, which produces an aromatic white wine, and is made in the refreshing dry style.

Roero Arneis is made by Malvirà, the most important winery in Roero. It is fully organic and CO2 neutral – to cut the greenhouse gas emissions to zero the cellars are buried deep underground, so that it remains cool in the hot Italian summer and in the winter it is heated by the goethermal power.

Usually, all wineries add sulfites to the wine, to replace oxygen and protect the wine. Some people don’t like that because sulfites may give one a headache. But Giacomo, the winemaker at Malvirà, found a way to replace sulfites with the wine’s natural CO2. During fermentation, when the yeast converts sugar into alcohol, CO2 is a natural by-product that is usually vented away. Giacomo decided to keep the wine’s own CO2, and use it instead of sulfites as antioxidant. This ingenious idea produces a sustainable wine with a delicate spritz – what’s not to like?

Amazin’ Grazin

Amazin Grazin are a super cool and exciting new cheese snack that is packed full of delicious pure natural ingredients and made from your favourite British cheese! “Instant Gratification with a twist!”
Available in 3 deliciously satisfying flavour varieties: Smoky Chipotle, Berries & Cherries and Sticky Date & Honey. they are a great source of protein, contain no artificial ingredients and are made from yummy British cheddar. I was kindly gifted the Smoky Chipotle, which tasted amazing – would make a perfect cheese and biscuits snack! Can’t wait to give their Berries and Cherries cheese a try!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and that you will checkout the individual sustainable companies I have been working with. Loolyn is definitely getting looked at on pay day along with exploring new Waterdrop flavours. Have you got a picnic planned? Or been on one recently? I’d love to hear all about them!
