What A Levels do I need to study marketing at University?

Hello Guys… While some people know from a young age what they want to be when they grow up, like a doctor or a teacher, not everyone has a life plan set in stone when they’re still a teenager. Perhaps you’re thinking about a degree in marketing, in which case you’ll need to think about what a levels will help you get onto a marketing course. Here’s some advice from a senior school in London.

The great thing about marketing is that the entry requirements are usually fairly vague in comparison to courses such as medicine or engineering. In other words, there are no essential subjects, but it’s important to check for yourself some of the different entry requirements at different universities, just to be on the safe side.

Marketing is very broad and appropriate a levels will depend on whether you would like to go down a theoretical or practical route. Maybe you hope to design and create print ads one day, in which case a levels in photography, media studies or even ICT might help you learn how to take a great photo or edit them on your computer. Perhaps you’d like to become a copywriter or a blogger, in which case an a level in English Literature will come in handy because it will help you develop excellent vocabulary and essential writing proficiency. An alevel in Business Studies might help you understand the business side to marketing.

It’s important to choose a levels that you think you’re going to enjoy and do well in, otherwise you will only waste your time. Do lots of research and speak to your teachers as they will be able to give you some advice and guidance regarding suitable options. Perhaps you know some older students who would be willing to share their own experience of subject selection and studying in general? Make sure to use all possible avenues where your research is concerned and talk to as many people as you can so that when the time does come you can be confident you’ve made the right decision.

    This is so interesting! It’s so cool to see how requirements differ between countries, all you need to go into marketing (business) in Canada is math and english usually!
