When it comes to learning to bake often, it comes down to the equipment you have at hand. Whilst you can do absolutely everything you need to be an incredible baker, those that succeed are the ones that have the right tools – whether that be an unstoppable can-do attitude for baking or a brand new kitchen aid!

Although it is likely you can’t have everything you need, here are 10 things you should definitely consider ‘finding’ if you want to be an incredible baker:

A Joy For Baking

One of the most important things you need in order to be a great baker is a joy for baking. If you are reading this post then the likelihood is that you definitely have a joy for baking, despite the fact it’s easy to forget sometimes. If you ever find that you’re struggling to find the motivation to bake, think back to the reason you started in the first place. Whether that be to create your own cake business or to learn a new skill – going back to your roots will bring that joy back all over again.

Lots And Lots Of Inspiration

A great way to ensure you’re always improving as a baker is to ensure you’re surrounding yourself with inspirations. Whether that means following influential bakers on social media, researching and pinning recipes on Pinterest or watching baking shows to give you need ideas – the more inspiration you have the more likely you are to want to bake! For a guide to the best influential bakers to follow on Instagram, you can visit this guide here.

An Incredible Kitchen To Bake In

Although a lot of bakers don’t have control over the kitchen they bake in, the better the kitchen the more encouraged you will be to bake. If you don’t have a kitchen that you enjoy to bake in then don’t worry, this is definitely something that will come with time.

Old And New Recipe Books Filled With Ideas

Although lots of people find their recipes online, recipe books are still an incredible way to find some of the world’s best recipes. Whether you raid the charity stores to find old hidden recipe books or purchase them at your local book store, there’s nothing like the feeling of flicking through to find your next favourite recipe. If you’re starting to find you have too many recipe books, why not create your own made up of snippings of all your most-loved bakes.

A Cupboard Stocked With Ingredients

If you’re going to be an amazing baker then you need to make sure you have absolutely every ingredient you’ll ever need. You never know when inspiration is going to strike so keeping your cupboards well stocked will mean you can bake whenever you want. Make sure you have lots of the basics, as they’re the things you’ll run out of first. For a guide on what to include in your baking pantry, you can visit this site here.

All The Decorating Tools You Could Need

When it comes to baking one of the most important things you’ll have to do is decorate your bakes. Whilst the taste is obviously important, the first impression people will get of your creations is how well you have decorated them. Make sure you’re well-equipped with as many different tools you can find to help you create the most beautiful bakes. Whether it’s tools to help you ice cakes or something to help create a stunning finish on a biscuit, you want to ensure you’re making an impression every single time.

High-Quality Kitchen Appliances

Another important aspect of baking is making sure you have high-quality kitchen appliances. Whilst this isn’t important in order to be a successful baker, it will definitely make your life much easier when it comes to mass production. If you are creating bakes for large orders, you may want to consider the equipment you have at home as often mixing by hand is not fast enough.

An Apron To Help Avoid Mess

Okay, so you don’t need an apron in order to be successful but you will get VERY messy whilst you’re baking, meaning one will definitely come in handy! For more information and apron inspiration, you can visit this site for wholesale aprons.

Someone You Can Turn To For Help

If you are just starting out but know that baking is the career route you want to take, you may want to consider having someone around you that you can turn to for help. Whether it’s a local baker in your area or an influencer on Instagram, knowing you can ask them questions whenever you need will definitely help you feel more at ease as you find your feet.

If you’re struggling to find someone who can help you, why not join a local club or a support group online? There will be lots of local workshops that will allow you to attend and learn the tricks of the trade, as well as Facebook groups you can join for support as you learn. Whilst it may mean committing to lessons, you’ll feel much better knowing you’re not alone when it comes to learning to bake. For a great, supportive baking group on Facebook, you can visit this site here.

A Sense Of Creativity

Finally, the last thing you need is a little bit of creativity. Whilst being a baker does involve a lot of recipe following, it also involves coming up with your own ideas and recipes. Being able to test and trial your own recipes will not only make you an incredible baker, but it will also give you the opportunity to one day contribute to your own recipe book or huge baking project – whether that be creating your own food blog or entering a televised competition.

Such a great post! I love baking and trying to find new and unusual cake recipes to make. Pinterest is always full of inspiration and recipes to follow, but I have to agree having an old recipe book is fab. You don’t have to touch a screen or reload the page whilst you are baking as it is right there in front of you in a book.

I have to be in the mood for baking though, and it is much easier when you are baking for your self rather than someone else. I always feel the pressure when it is for others!

    Thanks for sharing your tips!
