We all dream of buying the “perfect” home, you know the one where you can walk straight in and feel at home. But most of the time this isn’t the case, especially if you are a first time buyer. However, a home renovation project is also a great way to get yourself on the property ladder.
Home improvements can come in many degrees, whether it be a lick of paint in the rooms or a whole new kitchen/bathroom to put in! It’s great to be able to put your own stamp on the home you’ve just purchased.
So… you are probably wondering, where do I begin! I thought I’d share some tips and advice for all you home improvements lovers!
Home Improvements – Ideas:
1. New Windows
Does the property you’ve brought require replacement sash windows?
Three Counties could be a great place to start – not only do they provide new windows but doors and conservatories also.
2. Fresh Paint
I am sure I am in the majority by saying when you move into a new home you’d give it a lick of paint before moving in. It’s nice to go to B&Q or Homebase and pick your colours! I love picking up paint colour charts. Also everyone has different tastes and styles. A lime green bathroom wall may not be your cup of tea!
When you first move in I am sure you’d want to buy everything straight away! But make sure you write a list of the furniture you need, it can get expensive! Don’t forget to measure up (what you think may fit, may not!). I know when we finally get our keys to our first home we will buy furniture to match, I’m a little ocd with things matching (oppps!).
No home would be complete without a little bit of interior designing! This can range from pretty paintings, that fluffy cushion or even the perfect grey bedding. The little or big things which makes it your home. Check out Etsy for some amazing paintings or that quirky wall art.
I am sure like me, you will be heading to your local Sainsbury’s, Dunelm, Matalan, Homesense or John Lewis! These are some great places to pick up those little home comforts. Whether it be that rug for the hallway, or a sea themed blind for the bathroom. You will be sure to find some little furnishings in these local stores. This is my favourite part to buying my own home, I love decorating rooms to make them all homely and cosy!
I am hoping to share with you all our home purchasing, renovation, interior designs and home journeys over the next few months and maybe years! We are still awaiting for a date to get the keys…. it seems to drag on, or maybe I’m a little impatient! (Whoops!)
I hope you enjoyed reading this post all about Home Improvements. Are you currently renovating your home? Or looking for a renovation project? I’d love to hear your stories!
