6 Easy Ways To Wind Down After A Long Day

Relax..Comfort..Enjoyment

We have all experienced those days which have dragged, where 12pm feels like 5pm… whether you’ve been stuck at work or in a meeting all day… you just want to go home and relax. It is important to focus on Winding down after a long day.

How do you wind down and relax?

I am sure you have a way that you wind down and try and switch off from your busy day and help yourself turn focus to “Home life” I thought I’d share with you all a few ways that I love to wind down after a long day at work.

Unplug for a few hours

I work in an office so I’m on the computer for 90% of my day. So when I get home, my brain needs a break. I’ve tried to leave my phone upstairs for a couple of hours in the evening, to relieve stress and the social media buzz of constantly being online…This has helped my sanity tremendously. It is ok to have a few hours off to relax!

A Little Pampering

Come on we all deserve a little pamering after a long day! Whether it be a soak in a hot bath with your favourite bathbomb, a relaxing massage at the local salon… My pamper retreat is having my nails and eyebrows done, theres nothing more relaxing than being pampered. What’s your favourite pampering session?

Changing into your Comfy Clothes

Is there a better way to relax than getting straight home after work to put on your favourite pair of trackies, that favourite baggy t-shirt which is super comfy and your slippers?  Being able to change out of my ‘Formal’ workwear tells my brain that it is time to relax. Do you have a favourite attire of comfy wear?

Making one of my favourite Cocktails

One of my favourite ways to relax after a busy day is to make a Passionfruit Pornstar, there’s just something about an alcohol beverage which makes me more relaxed and comforted. If cocktails aren’t your style maybe opening a good bottle of bubbly will relax you?

Going for a Forest Walk

After a long day at work, there’s nothing better than having some fresh air a bit of exercise and taking in the scenery. It helps refresh the brain, allowing you to ‘Take a Break’. Living in the New Forest I love to take advantage of the winding footpaths and the beautiful landscapes.  I try to go out at least one evening a week to relax, and enjoy the wildlife and views.

Watching your Favourite TV or Netflix Series

By spending some time watching your favourite TV programme or Netflix series allows your brain to focus on something relaxing and not stimulating. It also helps relax yourself from any anxiety or worries which you may have experienced during the day. I love to watch my favourite films on repeat [My BF doesn’t enjoy this very much]

I hope you enjoyed reading all about ways to help you relax after a long day at work, school or university. By allowing yourself time to yourself is a great motivator and allows your brain to switch off which is vital to maintain a healthy work/home life balance.

What’s your favourite way of ‘winding down after a long day’ ?

Also, have you had a chance to read my bucket list yet?

Love

This is just what I need after a stressful Monday in the office! I think my two favourites have to be a forest walk, followed by cosying up and putting Netflix on.

    Great tips 🙂

I absolutely love your suggestions… a hot bath and a bath bomb are always my go to for a relaxed wind down session after a long day. Netflix is usually ALWAYS on when I’m home 😂 Thanks for sharing.

You’re so lucky that you live in a place where you’re within walking distance of a forest I’d love to go for long walks every night to relax! I usually relax by getting into my pyjamas and catching up on social media/reading people’s blogs and then I watch some TV or read my book!

LOVE these tips! Totally agree (and do!) all of these- especially the phone idea. I really think more people should try this, I always recommend it to people if they’re feeling stressed or down, sometimes being off your phone helps you relax and actually feel like your in the moment instead of constantly reading everyone else’s life updates. Great post! 🙂 x

Love this post! I find it so hard to unwind at the end of the day – I wish I had the restraint to leave my phone upstairs for the evening! I do love getting into my comfies though, it’s the best part of the day! Xx

  11. June 6, 2018 / 6:43 pm

I love all your ideas – I think it’s so important to take a few hours away from your laptop and phone. Especially when you spend all day at a PC in an office. And of course, you can’t beat a Passionfruit Pornstar!

Oh wow! Cocktails and forest walks would do it for me! Listening to music also helps!

  14. June 6, 2018 / 7:24 pm

I have turned off all notifications for my social medias on my phone now so I’m not swamped all the time! I put aside certain times to be on them and that really helps me stay calm. Love being in my PJs too and although it isn’t alcoholic, I love a good lavender lemonade to make me relax!

I love this post so much! Self love is so important ❤️
I really like to come home and have a hot bath, a glass of wine/lemonade & juice and read a book 🙂
Or using my headspace app for meditation ❤️

I love a good pamper session! Giving yourself a little facial massage with a cleansing oil/ balm, a glass of wine and Netflix is so relaxing after a long day. You’ve just reminded me I haven’t done this in a while, I need to up my game! x

Comfy clothes, definitely! The sense of relief that washes all over my body when I free them off the tight jeans is so good, haha. There’s nothing better than some cute little pyjamas or shorts for unwinding a day. Certainly agree with social media unplugging. It’s nice to just stay away form the buzz and virtual world to get a hint of the reality and some peace. Pampering can just never be enough! I agree that a long day can end amazingly with a hydrating mask or just a cozy bath 😀 Lovely post! <3
