We have all experienced those days which have dragged, where 12pm feels like 5pm… whether you’ve been stuck at work or in a meeting all day… you just want to go home and relax. It is important to focus on Winding down after a long day.
How do you wind down and relax?
I am sure you have a way that you wind down and try and switch off from your busy day and help yourself turn focus to “Home life” I thought I’d share with you all a few ways that I love to wind down after a long day at work.
Unplug for a few hours
I work in an office so I’m on the computer for 90% of my day. So when I get home, my brain needs a break. I’ve tried to leave my phone upstairs for a couple of hours in the evening, to relieve stress and the social media buzz of constantly being online…This has helped my sanity tremendously. It is ok to have a few hours off to relax!
A Little Pampering
Come on we all deserve a little pamering after a long day! Whether it be a soak in a hot bath with your favourite bathbomb, a relaxing massage at the local salon… My pamper retreat is having my nails and eyebrows done, theres nothing more relaxing than being pampered. What’s your favourite pampering session?
Changing into your Comfy Clothes
Is there a better way to relax than getting straight home after work to put on your favourite pair of trackies, that favourite baggy t-shirt which is super comfy and your slippers? Being able to change out of my ‘Formal’ workwear tells my brain that it is time to relax. Do you have a favourite attire of comfy wear?
Making one of my favourite Cocktails
One of my favourite ways to relax after a busy day is to make a Passionfruit Pornstar, there’s just something about an alcohol beverage which makes me more relaxed and comforted. If cocktails aren’t your style maybe opening a good bottle of bubbly will relax you?
Going for a Forest Walk
After a long day at work, there’s nothing better than having some fresh air a bit of exercise and taking in the scenery. It helps refresh the brain, allowing you to ‘Take a Break’. Living in the New Forest I love to take advantage of the winding footpaths and the beautiful landscapes. I try to go out at least one evening a week to relax, and enjoy the wildlife and views.
Watching your Favourite TV or Netflix Series
By spending some time watching your favourite TV programme or Netflix series allows your brain to focus on something relaxing and not stimulating. It also helps relax yourself from any anxiety or worries which you may have experienced during the day. I love to watch my favourite films on repeat [My BF doesn’t enjoy this very much]
I hope you enjoyed reading all about ways to help you relax after a long day at work, school or university. By allowing yourself time to yourself is a great motivator and allows your brain to switch off which is vital to maintain a healthy work/home life balance.
