Bombay Sapphire Distillery Tour

Bombay Sapphire Distillery

Cocktail Making and Tour

Laverstoke Mill

In June 2017 myself and my friend Laura visited the beautiful Laverstoke Mill, Hampshire the home of Bombay Sapphire Gin. Situated within the Conservation Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Laverstoke Mill is situated between two quaint villages Overton and Whitchurch.

We booked well in advance, on the Bombay Sapphire Distillery website as the distillery gets booked up really far in advance! We opted for the Gin masterclass where we were shown into a room with approximately 25 other visitors.

Each place was set up with;

  • Bombay Sapphire Gin (5cl)
  • Fever Tree Ginger Ale
  • Pomegranate Juice
  • Bottle Green Elderflower Cordial
  • Lime segments
  • Mint
  • Cocktail Shaker & Accessorises
  • Cocktail Garnish

The masterclass lasted 1 hour where we our ginologist talked about the history of Bombay Sapphire, the flavours involved with the making of Bombay Sapphire Gin and how different smells and tastes affects the cocktails. We made the AMAZING Laverstoke cocktail which I have made at home… it was so good!! After making the Laverstoke we made the classic Collins, I wasn’t a Gin drinker before I visited but now I’m a true Gin & Tonic and Gin Cocktail lover.

After our cocktail masterclass we had a token to use within the onsite bar where we could pick our favourite cocktail, I went for the Laverstoke again… I think I like it HAHA!!

The outdoor tables were decorated with Bombay Sapphire Bottles with candles inside, such a lovely touch for a beautiful setting in the glorious sunny Hampshire.

We visited the botanicals where we got to see all the herbs and spices which go into the Bombay Sapphire, we had a guided tour of the Furness where the Gin is developed and processed. We got to taste 60% Gin neat and my god was it strong! The fumes were quite intense but it was lovely to experience where the beloved Bombay Sapphire is created.

Cost:

Currently the Gin Masterclass is £40 per person.

A Self Discovery Tour is £16 per person.

(prices may vary)

I’d definitely recommend the masterclass as you’ll make 2 cocktails and also receive a token for another cocktail in the bar…. make sure you are the designated driver 😀

I loved our visit to the Laverstoke Mill, home of Bombay Sapphire Distillery and would 100% recommend everyone to visit, its such a great experience! Plus the bar is great value for money!

Are you a Gin lover? Would love to hear what your favourite cocktail is?

Love

This looks such a nice place. Even my boyfriend just read this post and said ‘this look’s nice, where is it?’. Especially if you get to drink gin whilst you are there haha!

aaah nice! No, not at all, about 2 hours away. I suppose if it’s in a nice area there might be other things to do/see? Would it be worth visiting from further away? x

I’d definitely recommend going – I have another post ‘the place I call home’ which is about the new forest approx 30 minutes away from the distillery,so you could make a weekend of it 🙂 x

This looks like such a nice place and it sounds like you guys had a great time. This would be a good idea for a fun day trip and the masterclass sounds like such a cool experience as you get to learn about the Gin AND drink it haha. Great post!
